KUCHING: A total of 285 units of solar street lights will soon be installed along Jalan Bau-Batu Kitang.
According to Second Assistant Minister for Transport Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, the lights are important as the condition of Jalan Bau-Batu Kitang is unsatisfactory, especially during the night.
“The absence of street lights at some locations and the uneven road surface endanger road users.
“Traffic along Jalan Bau-Batu Kitang is very high especially during peak hours in the morning and evening. People prefer the road as it is shorter compared to Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa,” he said.
To deal with the situation, Henry together with Batu Kitang Assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang and Serembu Assemblyman Miro Simuh paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg today (Jan 31) to hand over a proposal to install the street lights.
