Soldiers from neighbouring countries to share ‘Kuih Raya’ contributions

KUCHING:  First Division Infantry Commander, Major General Datuk Stephen Mundaw yesterday revealed  that the “Kuih Raya” contributions he received  would be shared with soldiers  from  neighbouring countries.

“They are our colleagues who work at the border, and this is one of the ways to maintain our relationships and cooperation with them, especially in maintaining peace and security at the border,” he said after receiving the contributions from the Chief Minister’s wife, Datuk Amar Datin Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang on behalf of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) from at Bukavu Hall, Penrissen Camp, 8th Mile here yesterday.

Also present  were Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being,Women, Family and Childhood Development, Datuk  Fatimah Abdullah, Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Mazlan Mansor, Eastern Field Command (EFC) Commander, Lt Gen Datuk Mohd Zaki Mokhtar and Assistant Minister of Community Well Being, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis

The “Sumbangsih Kuih Raya” presentation ceremony was organised by the Sarawak Women and Family Department (JWKS).

Stephen added the contributions would also be sent to all divisions of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), including staff of  the  Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) in the state who would be working during the “Hari Raya” celebration.

A total of 7,400 packs of “Kuih Raya” will distributed to eight law and security enforcement agencies in the state this year.

Among the other agencies that will receive  the “Kuih Raya” contribution from JWKS are the State Road and Transport Department (JPJ), the State Prison Department, State’s Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), and also the State’s Royal Malaysian Customs Department.
