MIRI: About 1,500 students age 16 and 17 years from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Merbau and SMK Lutong received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccines at PPV Curtin here on Saturday (Sept 11).

Students with obesity problem or having other medical conditions, were referred to Hospital Miri for their vaccination.

Minister for Transport Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is in charge of Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee visited the centre to view the vaccination process today.

During the visit, parents were expressing their gratitude and feeling grateful to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government, because Sarawak is the first state in Malaysia that carried out vaccination for teenagers aged 16-17.

Lee reminded all teenagers between 16-17 years old in Miri, to go for their vaccination at their respective schools.

Those eligible teenagers or students from other divisions but currently staying in Miri, are allowed to walk-in to the nearest PPV centre for their jabs.
