Some areas in Kuching, Kota Samarahan flooded

KUCHING: Heavy downpours since Friday night caused some areas in Kuching and Kota Samarahan to be inundated by floods.

According to a statement by the Civil Defence Force (APM) Batu Kawah area in Kampung Sinar Budi Baru,Taman Desa Wira was affected by the heavy rain causing water to rise to knee deep level.

“Four houses were affected by the heavy rain.

“Water began to rise at around 6 am yesterday morning and it began to recede at 9.50 am,” the statement said.

Besides that, APM had revealed several high risk flood areas in Kuching and one of them being Taman Sri Emas, Jalan Stapok.

The situation in the area is currently under control; the ankle deep flooding at 2 am in the area was caused by blocked drainage.

Following that, various postings on social media had revealed some areas in Mile 7 bridge, Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and other low lying areas in Kuching and Kota Samarahan were affected by flash floods.
