KUCHING: Sophia Taha Holdings Sdn Bhd emerged champion of the Biz@Expo Challenge during the recent Sarawak Timber & and SMEs Expo 2019. It received RM500 cash.

CT Manja Bidara, which came second, went home with RM300 cash while third place winner Maria Pesona Beauty received RM200 cash.

For the Innovative Product Challenge, champion Thirteen Competency Sdn Bhd received RM500 while second place winner HYEFIQ received RM300.

Sambal Pak Leman, which came third, was presented with RM200.

Biz@Expo Challenge, organised by Koperasi Belia Inovatif Sarawak (KOBIS) and Sarawak Entrepreneur Association (SEA), was supported by the Urban Development and Natural Resources Ministry.

A four-day programme which consisted of showcase, training, booth evaluation and challenges, it aimed to promote entrepreneurship activities at the expo.

Experts from the Sarawak Entrepreneur Association (SEA), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) as well as the founder of Almas were on hand to guide fellow entrepreneurs.

The closing ceremony and prize giving ceremony for the Biz@Expo Challenge were officiated by E-Commerce Assistant Minister and Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Entreprise (SME) Development Assistant Minister Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais.

The Sarawak Timber & SMEs Expo, held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, from June 27-30, was jointly organised by Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) and the Ministry of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development (MIED) Sarawak.
