KUCHING: In view of the alarming rise in Covid-19 cases, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has decided to extend the validity of the existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the state’s southern zone until Sept 5 at 11.59pm.

The committee in a statement today (Aug 27) said this decision involved the districts of Kuching, Bau, Lundu, Samarahan, Asajaya, Simunjan, Serian, and Tebedu.

“Among the SOPs that are still being implemented are that dine-ins are still not permitted and business operation hours will be shortened to last from 5am to 8pm.

“Individuals or groups of individuals are not allowed to be in public areas after 10pm without a reasonable excuse,” said the committee.

With regards to cross-district movements from the southern zone to other districts, a police permit is needed as well as a negative result of the rT-PCR or RTK Antigen test as approved by the Health Ministry.

“Antigen Covid-19 screening can be done at health clinics by appointment starting Aug 30,” they said.
