BETONG: A special committee will be set up to monitor projects that have been announced and implemented over the past two years of Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s chief-ministership.

As monitors, the committee will ensure that all project plans are adhered to and executed on schedule, he said.

Abang Johari said based on the standard operating procedure (SOP) every development project requires a certain time span to implement.

“After its official announcement, it would take between six months and a year for the tendering process to take place.

“The process is to fulfil the SOP and to make the open tender process and the selection of contractors transparent,” he said at a Betong all-community dinner for the Chief Minister at Tan Sri Datuk Amar Stephen Kalong Ningkan Sports Hall on Monday night.

Also present was Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

Abang Johari assured the people that as long as the present state government is in power, all development projects that have been announced would be implemented as planned, come rain or shine.
