SIBU: The service centre of Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew will embark on a special subsidy programme at the Orange Zone of Star Mega mall here tomorrow (Aug 13)

The programme, which aims to ease the burden of household expenses, especially in this difficult times, will be on from 9 am to noon.

Ling urged the public to come preferably at 8.30 am to secure a number.

“We will be preparing 500 sets of household items limited to one set per family on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. Hopefully they will cooperate with us.

“There will also be government subsidized cooking oil at RM2.50 per packet. On top of it, we will further subside it. We will also offer discounts or rebates on other items like Milo and milk powder as well as a RM5 petrol voucher,” he said.

Ling said the response to the programme held at Bisonte Grocer & Deli at Jalan Kuda last Sunday was overwhelming.

He said his service centre had prepared 300 sets of household items at special prices.

He said he was sorry many people were unable to secure any number as they came a bit late.

Ling explained that after the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob) had given equitable allocations to the opposition MPs like the MPs in the government.

“I hope this will also happen in the State Legislative assembly (DUN)to empower the opposition elected representatives.

“This will enable our elected opposition representatives at the DUN to carry out more programmes in their respective constituencies to help the people.

“I am grateful that the Prime Minister is willing to cooperate and allow the opposition elected representatives to play a more important role in our parliamentary system,” added Ling.
