Kuching city is one of the five cities selected for the implementation of Stage Bus Services Transformation (SBST).

Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said his ministry was working with Konsortium Bas Bandaraya Kuching Sdn Bhd to implement bus services under the SBST programme, expected to be implemented next year.

“We hope that the Federal Transport Ministry will provide the allocation as requested by Konsortium Bas Bandaraya Kuching Sdn Bhd to implement bus services under SBST programme,” he said when delivering his winding up speech yesterday.

He revealed that the Sarawak Bus Transport Companies Association had signed an agreement on Oct 16 this year with the Transport Ministry in Kuala Lumpur for Interim Stage Bus Support Fund (ISBSF) with the objective of providing funds to support the operation of bus companies operating in the state.

“Until today, the association has not received any ISBSF for 2019 and this has adversely affected the operation of bus services in the state.

“Therefore, we would like to request the Transport Ministry in Kuala Lumpur to expedite the disbursement of fund under the SBST programme to Konsortium Bas Bandaraya Kuching Sdn Bhd and ISBSF to the Sarawak Bus Transport Companies Association,” he pointed out.
