KUCHING: Police issued 82 compounds to errant individuals for violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the movement control order (MCO) on Monday

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Kuching recorded the most compounds with 48, followed by Matu-Daro (eight), Kota Samarahan (seven), Lawas (seven), Sibu (four), Saratok (three), Bintulu (two), Miri (two), and Padawan (one).

“The violations include being out in a public beyond past curfew without reasonable excuse (41); organising sports gathering in public (23); exceeding the passenger limit in a vehicle (seven); violating the SOP conditions (two); failing to wear face masks (two); operating beyond the allotted time (two); leaving an enhanced MCO (EMCO) (two); opening an unauthorised sales section (two), and failing to prepare a MySejahtera QR code (one).

“This brings the total amount of compounds issued since Mar 18 last year to 8,115,” the committee said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing issued nine compounds to business operators of premises under the supervision of various local councils.

Two compounds were each issued under the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) and the Miri City Council, followed by one compound each under the Sibu Rural District Council, the Serian District Council, the Bau District Council, the Sri Aman District Council and the Sarikei District Council.

The SDMC added that the businesses were violating SOPs such as failing to wear face masks (six); operating beyond the allowed time (one); operating without permission (one); and allowing dine in (one).

This brings the total amount of compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year to 1,147.
