KUCHING: The Shared Prosperity Vision (SPV) of the PH federal government is a delay tactic by Putrajaya in returning Sarawak’s rights.

Batang Sadong MP Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the policy will affect Sarawak’s demand for 20 per cent oil royalty and other rights given the need to share prosperity.

Nancy said in the past, Sarawak had sacrificed to share its oil wealth with its Malayan counterparts noting that until today Sarawak has to negotiate for what it rightfully owned.

She added the time has come for Sarawakians to safeguard its rights and not be subservient to Putrajaya and federal leaders.

Nancy was responding to Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement during the Malaysia Day celebration that the federal government was committed to giving more focus on developing Sarawak and Sabah in line with its newly introduced Shared Prosperity Vision.

“Look at the PM’s comments regarding Sarawak and Sabah during pre and post-election. During pre-election, their manifesto was to give 50 per cent of development funds to five poor states at that time,” she pointed out.

“However, after the election, the number of poor states increased to six to include Kedah — an indication that Malaya is trying to grab whatever they could from us in Sarawak. Enough is enough.

“These ungrateful people are talking about our lands and our wealth because they don’t have theirs anymore.

“They are relying on our greens and our treasures that help to enrich Malaya,” she said when contacted by New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.
