SIBU: Yayasan Azman Hashim and Amcorp Group presented sanitisation packs for distribution to residents of HDC Garden Terraces and Sibu Jaya Flats here today.

Each sanitisation pack comprised a box of three-ply surgical masks, four bars of anti-bacterial soap and two bottles of sanitising liquid.

Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said the aid was a timely gift for residents who had just emerged from the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

“Many of the residents may be hard pressed at this time to place too much emphasis on purchasing sanitisation items.

“As such, I feel such a gift at this time, is very much welcomed and needed,” he said when speaking at the handing over ceremony at Sibu Jaya today(March 19).

He said it was heartening to see corporate organisations doing their part for the community.

“Yayasan Azman Hashim has already donated a multi-million sports stadium, which is now nearing completion. And now it is stepping forward again with the Amcorp Group,” he said.

Stating that he has known the people of Amcorp for quite a while, and finding them to be very proactive as the master developer of the booming Sibu Jaya, Sempurai said he was optimistic that Amcorp will continue to do its best for the township.

“Amcorp has always responded positively to our call for assistance in the development of Sibu Jaya. And their top management team such as the Group chief operating officer Azlan Baqee Abdullah and the other senior management have always been concerned about the people of Sibu Jaya and its development,” he said.

On the assistance rendered by other parties to residents in the affected areas, Sempurai said the government has done a very good job in looking after the people’s welfare.

“I am also very proud to see that so many parties have been coming together to lend a helping hand to the people, and I am certain Amcorp Group will not be the last,” he said, alluding to the hope that many more businesses or groups would also step forth with corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes of their own.
