SRI AMAN: Residents in Undop, Batu Lintang and the surrounding areas in Sri Aman continue to enjoy the development brought in by the GPS government.

After the Batang Undop Bridge opened up to Ulu Paku residents last month, it is now Kampung Temiang residents’ turn with the Temiang Lama Bridge.

The bridge was completed last year at a cost of RM750,000 and has already been used by residents from nearby areas.

“The Temiang Lama Bridge Project was implemented under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for the Simanggang constituency to connect residents from Rumah Ganyun Temiang.

“This new bridge also allowed the government to build roads to connect to the longhouse with a cost of RM500,000,” said Assistant Minister of Community Wellbeing Datuk Francis Harden Hollis.

Harden also noted that the construction of the new bridge was vital as it replaced the old suspension bridge.

Harden, who is also Simanggang assemblyman, is confident that the new bridge will spur commercial agriculture activities among the residents of Temiang Longhouse and the surrounding areas.

“The new Temiang Lama Bridge also allows residents to use their vehicles to carry out commercial agriculture activities,” he said.

He added that several suspension bridges in the Undop and Batu Lintang areas have been completed, one of which is the Rumah Wiss Suspension Bridge, Paku Ili that costs RM260,000.

“Furthermore, with the announcement of the State Budget 2019 which is considered the largest in the history, it will further drive the development process in Simanggang in the future,” Harden said.
