KUCHING: Sarawak State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani did Sarawak proud after he received a Special Award in the National Sports Awards held in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday night.

Morshidi, who was a joint winner with another sports personality Datuk Dina Rizal, received the award for his leadership as Sarawak successfully hosted the Sukma event held in the state last year and other sports events.

Sarawak’s Olympic diver Pandelela Rinong also picked up the national women’s team awards together with her diving partner Cheong Jun Hoong at the event which was presided by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong.

Paralympic athlete Abdul Latif Romly won the Sportsman of the Year while silat exponent Siti Rahmah Mohamed Nasir was named the Best Sportswoman of the Year.
