KUCHING: The Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC) had recently hosted an official visit from delegates headed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Sabah, Phoong Jin Zhe. During his visit, here, he attended Sarawak Sports Corporation’s briefing on its continuous efforts and initiatives in supporting the state government’s vision of turning Sarawak into the sports powerhouse in Malaysia. Dr Ong Kong Swee, chief executive officer of Sarawak Sports Corporation and director of Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS) said SSC is committed towards its vision, mission, values and functions.
The briefing emphasised knowledge sharing and strategic ideas among the Youth and Sports ministries of Sarawak and Sabah, SSC, Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS), Sabah State Sports Council and Sabah Sports Corporation towards looking forward to establishing the East Malaysia Sports Commission.
Phoong commended SSC on its organisational structure and the initiatives taken in boosting the pace of sports development in Sarawak. Phoong and delegates were given a tour of facilities which included visiting at Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre, Sarawak Indoor Stadium, Shooting Range, and Sarawak Stadium. The VIPS and guests present included Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports Sabah Arunarsin Taib, deputy permanent secretary Neldin Gimbang, president of Sabah Sports Council Dr Tan Kah Hock.
