KUCHING: Stable politics in Sarawak has lured Australia’s interest to invest in the working talent and resources available.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the chamber of commerce in Western Australia is keen on investing in Sarawak.

“During my work trip to Melbourne recently, I met with several companies as well as the chamber and they said they are interested to invest in Sarawak.

“They are also interested to further increase trade between their country Australia and Sarawak as well as Malaysia in general.

“The potential is not just among our neighbours, Brunei Darussalam, Sabah, and Indonesia,” he said when officiating at Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (PKMS) Week, here today.

He further stated that their reason for investing is because of Sarawak’s political stability where its government is led by the Premier’s futuristic leadership who often looks ahead and finds more ways to develop Sarawak.

“We have the resources and workforce talent, and I would like to tell you in Sama Jaya High Tech Park in Kuching, it is a place where multinational corporations from US, Germany, China, Korea, Japan and some other countries are currently operating in.”

Elaborating further, Awang Tengah said that Sama Jaya High Tech Park employs more than 14,000 people with its senior management, and its engineers comprising 98 per cent Sarawakians.

‘’We have the talent and we need to take advantage of this, and we need to increase the talent development,” he pointed out.

Both working and acquiring proper skills are important,

Awang Tengah added in his speech.

‘’If we work together, we will succeed therefore we must have strong willingness, initiative and effort to work harder,’’ he disclosed.
