KUCHING: Stamp and Felateli Club was named the Best Interactive Booth at the inaugural “Uniformed Bodies, Associations and Clubs Expo” of SMK Petra Jaya near here last Saturday.

The expo held at the school compound was aimed at introducing activities and information on uniformed bodies to the community, demonstrating communication skills, creativity and innovations as well as producing creative invention for each uniformed unit.

The expo was declared open by Tupong Assemblyman, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.

In his speech Fazzrudin commended the school on its initiative to hold the expo.

“This expo will help the students in honing and improving their communication skills and can also provide correct information to the public including parents about uniformed bodies in their children’s school.

“Besides, it can also bridge the gap between the school and parents, local people and outside agencies,” he said.

Fazzrudin also announced an allocation for the school according to the amount of profits earned from the sale of stalls during the expo.

“From preliminary information I received, the estimated total profit earned from the sale of stalls in the expo has already reached RM10,000.

“I would like to request the school to recalculate the sales amount and to tell me again and I will give the same amount of money based on the profit earned to the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG).

“I hope this allocation will be able to help the school’s PTA in improving the school facilities for the convenience of teachers and students,” he said.

Meanwhile, the top three winners of the Expo Cultural Night were Kadet Remaja Sekolah (KRS), Persatuan Institusi Pertahanan Awam (PISPA) and Puteri Islam, respectively.

Also involved in the expo were government departments and agencies related to uniformed bodies in schools such as the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM), Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), Civil Defence Agency (APM) and others.
