THE Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports is awaiting the Federal Government’s response on the status of the Mount Serembu and Brooke Heritage site before taking up the project.
During a question-and-answer session at the State Legislative Assembly sitting in Kuching yesterday, Assistant Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin said the RM 1.6 million project had tourism potential and had been put under the Federal Government funding.
However, after the May general election, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government had put the project on hold.
Lee was replying to Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh on the latest status of the project.
“My ministry has pursued the matter with the Federal Tourism Ministry and I hope the Federal Government will not cancel the project.
“If it is cancelled by the Federal Government, we will seek the fund from the state,” Lee said.
