MIRI: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib yesterday night attended a State Banquet held in conjunction with His Excellency’s 83rd birthday celebration here.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, his deputies Tan Sri Dr James Masing, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Dewan Undangan Negeri Speaker Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar, State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion, ministers and assistant ministers were among those in attendance.
On hand to entertain was Istana Budaya’s Okestra Traditional Malaysia.
Singers Bob Yusuf, Fairuz Misran, Ermi Sanisha, Carrie Geres, Hael Husaini and several other local artistes took turn to belt out popular songs to the delight of guests.
A video presentation featuring leaders and people from the various backgrounds expressing their birthday wishes and greetings to Tun Abdul Taib was screened and this was followed later by a cake-cutting ceremony.
