KUCHING: State civil servants are being encouraged to cultivate a proactive spirit and go above and beyond in their efforts to improve the quality of public services.
Deputy State Secretary (Administration), Datuk Buckland Bangik, said that responsibility held by public servants in driving Sarawak towards its goal of becoming a developed state by 2030 through the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS).
Speaking at the Premier’s Department Gawai Dayak Open House ceremony held at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building today (June 12), Buckland stressed that as the expectations of stakeholders continue to rise, public servants must work diligently to deliver on the government’s promises to the people.
“Our focus should be on implementing government policies, particularly approved projects and programs, which will ultimately benefit the people of Sarawak and all of us,” he said.
Furthermore, Buckland mentioned the unique nature of the open house event, where each unit under the Premier’s Department set up stalls offering various types of food and delicacies for the attendees. Additionally, he explained that there were ten other stalls selling traditional Gawai accessories, providing a platform for local entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products.
The Premier’s Department also took the opportunity during the ceremony to extend its support to those in need. Some 40 staff members from the department received donations from the Malaysian Government Servants’ Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK). Moreover, 26 underprivileged students from SK Satria Jaya were presented with bags and stationery items as part of the department’s charitable initiatives.
