KUCHING: The Sarawak government is committed to supporting and prioritising the health, safety and well-being of employees at their respective workplace.

“It cannot be denied that health and safety at work are important factors in every sector that must be taken seriously,” said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Unggah Embas.

“If those two factors are neglected, I am sure it will have consequences towards employees, employers and surrounding nature that eventually will be a loss to every side,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the Borneo Occupational Safety and Health Conference and Exhibition (BOSH 2022) at Pullman Hotel here on yesterday (Nov 1).

Towards this end he said efforts by every organisation to provide for a safe workplace should be applauded and receive support.

“Let’s band together with the government, employers and employees in making sure the productivity of organisations remains strong by empowering our workplace for it be safer and healthier,” he said.

Meanwhile, National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) chairman Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong added that compliance towards health and safety at work should not only be seen from the perspective of the law.
