State delegation visits Chinese solar plant

SHANGHAI: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan recently led a state delegation to one of the top global producers of solar industry here to better understand its operations.

Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) was impressed with the factory operations and its research and development facility.

He said the visit was crucial for Sarawak to better understand the solar industry and attract more industry players to Sarawak as the state too, has a vibrant solar industry.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the plant production, which adopts latest technologies in producing high standard solar products.

The company also has operations worldwide namely in China, Malaysia, United States of America (USA) and Portugal.   

Awang Tengah took the opportunity to share with the company on the business and investment opportunities in Sarawak. Among other things, he stressed on the availability of abundant natural resources, the state’s business friendly policies and attractive incentives offered by both Federal and State governments.

Among those in the delegation were assistant ministers Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais and Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Mintred permanent secretary Datuk Liaw Soon Eng, Recoda chief executive officer Datuk Ismawi Ismuni, Mida Shanghai director Steven Cheng, and Mintred senior officials.
