State government to improve internet connectivity in Lawas

LAWAS: The Sarawak government led by Gabungan Parti Sarawak is committed to further improving Internet connectivity in Lawas District.

According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this was important in line with the state government’s initiatives and policies in developing the digital economy in Sarawak.

“In Lawas, we will work to further improve Internet connectivity, and in some areas we will set up towers and lines.

“Some have been established and some are being planned. This is important for the digital economy,” he said when speaking at the opening ceremony of the Mobile Photography and Videography Course here on Sunday (Nov 14).

Commenting on the programme, Awang Tengah, who is also Bukit Sari incumbent, said this was in line with current needs to continue business efforts.

He said that if the community was diligent, they would be able to advertise and promote their products and services not only in the domestic market but also overseas.

“We need to improve the quality of our products as well as the packaging in order to further expand our market,” said the Minister of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development.

During the programme, he also presented Program Peningkatan Usahawan Bumiputera assistance to several recipients.
