KUCHING: Sarawak has the potential to attract more domestic and international investors in the industrial development sector as well as tourism.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin noted that Sarawak recorded trade revenue of RM85.2 billion from outside and inside the country in 2020.

“Sarawak is a destination for many investors especially in the industrial development sector with RM15.8 billion worth of investment last year.

“To get more investment into Sarawak, the government through the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) will work with the state government through the Ministry of International Trade, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) Sarawak,” he said during a Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 Town Hall session at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) today.

He added that both ministries would work together on establishing an ecosystem of investment supported by industrial development and export market.

“Sarawak is also a tourism destination in Malaysia. The ecotourism industry here has a lot to offer. The state is famous for its beauty of nature and the diverse ethnic groups and culture,” he said.
