State helps with RM6.3 million

MIRI: The state government has approved allocations worth RM6.33 million this year to help finance the repairs of nine longhouses in the Marudi constituency via a longhouse loan scheme.

Assistant Minister for Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil revealed this in a Facebook post last Saturday (Sept 12).

These nine longhouses are Rumah Wen Magelit, Lapok (RM1.11 million), Rumah Chabu Makom Sg Liam (RM930,000), Rumah John Mat, Lapok (RM960,000), Rumah Patricia Indit (RM430,000), Rumah Anthony Ladi Sg Liam (RM540,000), Rumah Linggi and Usar Sg Urong (RM750,000), Rumah Gansa and Pagon (RM390,000), Rumah Langat Anthony and Collins (RM840,000) and Rumah Apol and Alam Sg Liam (RM390,000).

“It is the state government’s initiative to help rural folk so they can have comfortable homes,” said the assistant minister.

Earlier that day, Penguang was at Rumah Patricia Indit in Mallang, Sungai Kara, for the launch of the loan scheme.

“From 2016 to 2019, a total RM76.3 million has been approved benefitting 2,897 households,” he said.

He explained that the state government had allocated RM50 million this year while RM10 million came from the federal government for 86 longhouses throughout Sarawak.
