Maulidur Rasul

KUCHING: The state-level Maulidur Rasul celebration will be held in Kuching on Oct 28 and 29.

This was said by Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

According to him, the event will begin with the recitation of zikir and the opening ceremony of Taman Islam Darul Hana on Oct 28.

“It will continue the next day (Oct 29) with a gathering at Sarawak Islamic Complex Hall.

“On the same day, four side programmes, namely the Islamic Affairs Forum (to be held at Masjid Al-Abyad, Taman Matang Jaya), religious talks, cycling activities and digital poster competitions will also be held.

“Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg are expected to attend the celebration,” he said at a press conference here yesterday (Oct 23).

Abdul Rahman, who is also the Assistant Minister of Utilities (Water Supply), added during the event, Taib will also present a special appreciation to Covid-19 special committee in Islamic departments/agencies, excellent mosque management and administration, dakwah activists (men and women) as well as outstanding SPM and STPM students.

Also present at the press conference were Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) president Datuk Misnu Taha, Kuching Resident Sherrina Hussaini and Sarawak Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) director Khalidi Ibrahim.
