KOTA SAMARAHAN: The 57th Sarawak State Level Tilawah Al-Quran competition will be held at Civic Centre, Samarahan, from 14 to 17 March.
This was announced by Assistant Minister for Housing and Assistant Minister for Youth and Sports Datuk Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at a press conference held at Samarahan Resident’s Office yesterday.
There will be 12 finalists in the men’s category (Qari) and 12 in the women’s category (Qariah).
The first place winner of each category will receive RM7,000, a trophy, a certificate and an umrah package.
The second place winner will take home RM5,000, a trophy and a certificate.
The third place winner will walk away with RM3,000, a trophy and a certificate.
The consolation prize winner will pocket RM1,500, and a certificate.
The opening ceremony on 14 March will be graced by Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Abang Haji Openg and wife Datin Amar Dato Hajah Juma’ani Tunku Haji Bujang.
The closing ceremony on 17 March will be graced by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajjah Raghad Kurdi Taib.
