State Library holds ‘I Love History’ programme on 15 June

KUCHING: In conjunction with “A Week with Archives”  programme and International Archives Day 2017, Sarawak State Library will be holding the “I Love History” programme on 15 June at 2pm at the library’s Special Collection Room.

“I Love History” is a programme that provides opportunities for primary schoolchildren (Primary 4 and 5 ) to love Sarawak history.

This programme is a collaboration   with Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Tun Abdul Razak (IPGKTAR). It is intended to give an overview of information and materials available in the Sarawak State Library which can help students to know and understand the history of Sarawak. It also can promote   feelings of love towards the country and history.

On 16 June at 2pm at the State Records Repository, the “Old Newspaper : The Hidden History” programme will be held. This programme aims to increase volunteerism activities which can assist to provide access to information about Sarawak through Chinese newspaper descriptions.

The target participants for this programme are members of the Chinese Associations  who are fluent and able to read Mandarin. Through this programme, more resources and materials in Chinese can be used as reference in the State Records Repository.

This programme also attempts to introduce Friends of the Archives (FOA) to the participants and encourage them to join as members.
