MIRI: The Sarawak State Library (Pustaka Sarawak) will be conducting a virtual ‘Librarian Talk’ session where an exclusive interview will be conducted with librarians and support staff of Pustaka Sarawak on June 23 at 10am.

The purpose of the virtual talk is to highlight the functions, services and achievements of the state library.

The session would cover topics such as skills, workplaces, activity suggestions, library initiatives and innovations.

The state library has four campuses, and each campus will highlight their units, divisions, sectors and campuses in the library management context.

The talk will be featuring an interview session with the Miri Sarawak State Library regional manager Salina Zawawi.

Salina has been serving the state library for over 10 years and has a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Masters in Library and Information Sciences from International Islamic University Malaysia.

The session will talk about the role of librarians in the community with the topic ‘Local Content and Smart Collaboration for Sustainable Knowledge Society’.

The virtual talk will begin with these questions:

•      What is meant by local content, smart cooperation and knowledgeable society?

•      Why is this local content and smart collaboration held?

•      When we talk about the knowledgeable community, who is the main contributor to this local content?

•      What about smart cooperation?

•      When we talk about empowering local content, does it focus solely on print publishing or how?

•      In the context of the Library, what examples of local content and smart collaboration are being provided?

•      What are the challenges identified in the creation of this local content?

•      Hearing all of these explanations on the challenges, what is the main appeal or message you wish to convey?

The session can be viewed via Pustaka Sarawak’s Facebook page (pustaka.sarawak) and Youtube channel (PustakaSarawak).
