“So far, the haze in Kuching has been reported to be at a moderate level,” he said to reporters at Kuching Polytechnic graduation ceremony here on Wednesday.

The State Meteorological Department reported that the latest blaze was threatening visibility at seven kilometres in Limbang at 9am.

“The visibility distances in Sri Aman, Miri and Mulu were recorded in 10 km but the rain helped to reduce the haze in Miri yesterday morning.

“For Sibu and Bintulu, visibility was within 8 km,” he added.

The department also reported that the haze is expected to affect several states including Penang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, including Kuching, Serian and Samarahan in Sarawak due to forest fires in six provinces in Kalimantan, Indonesia on August 7.
