State records 460 new cases, one death

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 460 new positive COVID-19 cases and one COVID-19 linked fatality today.

In its daily COVID-19 statement today, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the 25-year-old woman from Kuching passed away on Wednesday (Feb 23).

It added that the woman had heart disease and her remains were brought to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

Of the 460 new positive cases, the committee said 232 were in category 1 (no symptoms), 219 were in category 2 (mild symptoms), three were in category 3 (lung infection), two were in category 4 (lung infection and require oxygen) while four were in category 5 (lung infection and require ventilator).

“This brings the cumulative tally of COVID-19 cases in the state to 258,412,” it said.

On the breakdown of the new cases according to district, the SDMC said Kuching accounted for 177 cases, Miri 97, Sibu 88, Kapit 26, Bintulu 16, Limbang 13, Sarikei  nine while Kanowit  and Pakan five cases each.

“Song recorded four cases while Saratok, Serian, and Bukit Mabong each recorded three cases. Samarahan, Betong, Meradong, and Subis each recorded two cases while Lawas, Bau and Matu each recorded one case,” it said.

The committee said no new clusters were reported, that meant three active clusters in the state as of today.
