
KUCHING: Sarawak recorded a total of 1,427 Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative cases to 277,277.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its daily update said, of the total, 1,425 were in Categories 1 and 2 while one case each was recorded in Categories 4 and 5.
“Kuching recorded 540 cases followed by Miri with 144, Sibu with 126, Bintulu with 116, Serian with 109 and 91 cases in Samarahan.
“Sarikei recorded 42, Bau (37), Sri Aman (35), Mukah (16), Betong (15), Limbang (14), Kapit (12), Marudi and Subis each with 11 cases and 10 in Kabong,” it said.
Nine cases were recorded each in Meradong, Saratok and Dalat, Pakan had eight cases, and seven cases each in Simunjan, Lundu and Kanowit.
Julau and Daro each recorded six cases, four each in Tatau, Matu and Tebedu, three cases each in Asajaya, Pusa, Lubok Antu, Telang Usan and Beluru, Lawas recorded two cases and one case in Sebauh.
SDMC also disclosed that there was one Covid-19 fatality in Mukah which occurred on March 10.
The victim, a 69-year-old woman who passed away at Mukah Hospital, had high blood pressure, dyslipidemia and a history of heart disease.
Apart from that, the committee also said there were 12 new additional cases reported from the DTI Semuja cluster today.
In Kuching, eight compounds were issued, bringing the total to 13,579 compounds, for failing to register using the MySejahtera application at premises.
There were 13 new persons under surveillance and 291 still undergoing quarantine at designated hotels.
The total number of persons under surveillance who have been discharged from quarantine stood at 167,623.
