State records three new clusters

KUCHING: Three more new Covid-19 clusters — one each in the Kuching, Kanowit, and Telaga Usan districts — were declared in the state on Saturday (Sept 18),

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the first cluster was the KM19 Kuching-Serian Road cluster in Kuching.

It is an institution cluster involving staff and residents of a childcare centre located at Jalan Poh Kwong, KM19, Off Jalan Kuching-Serian, Kuching.

Of the 93 people who were screened, 17 including the index case tested positive while 76 were negative.

The SDMC said the second cluster was a community cluster known as the Nanga Sesamak cluster in Kanowit.

This cluster involved residents of a longhouse located in Nanga Sesamak, Kanowit. Of the 48 people who were screened, 39 including the index case were positive, while nine were negative.

The committee said the third cluster was the Pelut Baram cluster in Telang Usan.

This cluster is a workplace cluster which involves a logging camp placed under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) located in the Pelutan area of Telang Usan.

Of the 147 people who were screened, 37 including the index case were positive  while 110 were negative.

The SDMC also announced the end of the Jalan Seringgok cluster in Bau after no new cases were recorded within 28 days.

It added 13 out of 138 active clusters in the state today recorded a total of 113 new cases.
