State records three new community clusters

KUCHING: Three new Covid-19 clusters were declared in Sarawak on Wednesday (Sept 15) and all were categorised as community clusters.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that one was the Sebobok cluster detected in Bau while the other two clusters located in Pakan were dubbed the Sungai Ipoh cluster and the Sungai Buloh cluster.

“The Sebobok cluster is a community cluster involving residents of a village, that is, Kampung Sebobok located in the Jagoi area in Bau.

“Of the 84 people, who were screened, 76 including the index case were positive while eight were negative. Eight new cases have been reported today,” it said in a statement today (Sept 15).

All positive cases were being isolated and treated at the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), the Bau Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC), and Bau Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC).

As for the Sungai Ipoh cluster, the committee said it involved residents of a longhouse located at Sungai Ipoh in Pakan.

“Of the 41 people, who were screened, 37 including the index case were positive while four were negative. Thirty-six new cases have been reported today,” it said.

All positive cases were being isolated and treated at Sarikei Hospital and the PKRC in the Sarikei district.

The SDMC said that the Sungai Buloh cluster was a community cluster involving residents of a longhouse located at Sungai Buloh in Pakan.

“Of the 23 people who were screened — 21 including the index case wer positive, one was negative while one is still awaiting results. Twenty new cases have been reported today,” it said.

The committee said that the positive cases were being isolated and treated at the Sarikei Hospital and the PKRCs in the Sarikei and Meradong districts.

The committee also announced the end of the Kampung Sungai Linsat cluster in Serian as no new cases involving this cluster had been detected in the last 28 days.

With that, there are 141 active clusters in the state.
