State records two new fatalities

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded two Covid-19 related deaths today bringing the total number of fatalities to 80 to date.

One of the victims is a 59-year-old local man – case no. 8,768 who underwent emergency treatment at Betong Hospital.

He was referred to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment due to being in critical condition and his rapid testing for Covid-19 antigen kit returned positive on the same day.

The deceased was symptomatic of fever, cough, and body fatigue since a few days before getting his treatment. His rT-PCR screening came back positive on Feb 24.

He was pronounced dead on Feb 24 and had comorbid diabetes, high blood pressure, gout, and chronic kidney disease.

The second fatality was case 6,383 involving a 54-year-old local man who was admitted to Bintulu Hospital after his rT-PCR came back positive on Feb 12 upon close contact screening.

His health deteriorated and was pronounced dead on Feb 26. The deceased has comorbid high blood pressure and diabetes.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has extended its condolences to the family members of the deceased.
