State registers 286 new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak today registered 286 new COVID-19 cases, 283 of which were categories 1 and 2 cases.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the other three cases, two had lung infections, while one case required oxygen supply.

“Kuching registered the most cases with 25, followed by Miri with 33 and Sibu with 32 cases,” it said in its daily COVID-19 update. 

“The rest of the cases were reported in Bintulu, Betong, Serian, Kanowit, Limbang, Samarahan, Asajaya, Pusa, Mukah, Sri Aman, Dalat, Julau, Kabong, Matu, Simunjan, Kapit, Lubok Antu, Marudi, Lundu, Daro, Subis, Tebedu, Saratok, Song and Selangau.”

The committee said one backlog death case from Apr 10 was also confirmed today.

It said the case was of a 48-year-old man from Bintulu.

“The case was a brought-in-dead case. The victim had a history of high blood pressure,” it explained.

Apart from that, SDMC added that there were also no new clusters detected in the state.

“The number of clusters in Sarawak remains at only four with no new additional cases reported in the existing clusters,” it said.
