KUCHING: More workplace preschools and nurseries will be built in the state to motivate parents to be more productive workers, said Datuk Wira Dr Mohamed Farid Md Rafik.

Farid, who is Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department of National Unity and Social Wellbeing, said his ministry is serious about the matter as it wishes to compliment the commendable efforts of the state government.

“We are very happy that Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has a very good mission in taking care of the children’s welfare in the state.

“Therefore, we will ensure that we from the ministry, with help from the state government, will strive to give the best to the state’s children.

“While we strive to do that, we will also be helping parents who wish to help increase their household income,” Farid said.

Meanwhile, Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah said it is the duty of the state to provide the best education for the people from their early growing up years.

“Besides that, nurturing unity remains our prime concern, and because of that we want to teach our young what it means to live in harmony with one another,” Fatimah said.

On the subject of single mothers, Fatimah said the chief minister has set aside financial allocation with which to help single mothers wanting to venture into business.

“We have given them training on certain skills and then they are also allocated with certain amount for them to start their trade,” she explained.
