KUCHING: Sarawak will host Malaysia Day 2019 on September 16, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan announced yesterday at a press conference held at Wisma Sumber Alam.

He said the federal and state governments had discussed the organisation of the event.

“Both sides agree on a joint committee. The state committee will join with the federal committee to ensure that Malaysia Day goes well,” he said.

Awang Tengah added the venue would be Padang Merdeka Kuching.

“The objectives of the event are to promote patriotism and love for Malaysia among the people as well as enhance unity and national integration,” he said.

Awang Tengah added that he would be representing the state government as chairman of the joint organising committee.
