KUCHING: The Sarawak Environmental Tour Programme, covering Kuching to Lawas,

is due to start this month, said Assistant Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.

He said the tour is a joint venture with the Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB), state assemblymen, Members of Parliament, Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID), Public Works Department (PWD), and Department of Minerals and Geosciences.

“The environmental tour programme is initiated to gather issues relating to the environment and launch programmes to increase public awareness of the importance of caring for the environment,” he said in a statement.

During the tour, there will be environmental awareness programmes for the community, industry, youth and school children to help improve knowledge, skills and values of the environment, as well as training the community to be involved in green practices in daily life.

Through the tour, it is also hoped that solutions can be rooted out to solve all environmental issues accumulated.
