Statistics dept conducting two special online surveys

KUCHING: The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) is conducting two special online surveys, namely ‘Covid-19 Impact on the Economy and Individuals (Round 2)’ and ‘Covid-19 Effects on the Economy and Company / Business Firm’. The surveys started on April 10 and will end on April 24.

In a press statement issued yesterday, the department said the first survey was a continuation of the ‘Special Covid-19 Impact Survey on Economics and Individuals (Round 1)’, conducted from March 23 to March 30 with approximately 168,000 respondents.

Following the announcement by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on April 10 on the extension of the movement control order (MCO) to April 28, the department decided to assess the impact of the MCO and government initiatives in balancing the country’s economic viability.

Hence, the Special ‘Covid-19 Effect on Economy and Companies / Business Firms’ survey which contains 33 qualitative views. It is open to all companies and businesses in Malaysia.

Information collected from both surveys is subject to the provisions of the Statistics Act 1965 (Revised 1989). The information received is confidential and will be used only for statistical purposes.

The public can participate in the surveys at http://www.dosm.gov.my or on all social media at DOSM @statsmalaysia.
