BINTULU: Kemena assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom has advised residents, particularly those near rivers and hillsides, regarding the risk of floods and landslides.

He stressed the importance of vigilance, especially as the year ends—a period prone to such natural disasters.

“At this time of year, we must be particularly cautious of floods and landslides. It’s crucial to ensure our homes are supervised for safety purposes, as many are not built with adequate safety features,” he told reporters after distributing the Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant and the Program Penambahbaikan Rumah Miskin Sarawak (PPRMS) at the Bintulu Division Agriculture Department’s meeting room recently.

A total of RM1,296,200 was allocated to 56 recipients, including nine PPRMS beneficiaries in the Kemena constituency.
