KUCHING: The first day of the Mind and Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Festival kicked off yesterday at the hall of Chung Hua Middle School No. 1 here.

The two-day event, jointly organised by the Malaysia Mental Literacy Movement, Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair (KLESF), University Tunku Abdul Rahman and Sin Chew Daily, is participated by some 80 participants from 18 schools and universities.

It is aimed to introduce and promote various techniques and skills pertaining to the improvement of mental literacy among Malaysians, as well as to enhance school students’ interest in STEM.

A line-up of activities related to STEM and mental literacy would be held, including the STEM Cube Challenge Kuching 2019, held for the second time in conjunction with the festival.

The competition was held in the same venue last year, and admission is free. Meanwhile, the KLESF 2019 and the 15th Malaysia Festival of the Mind 2019 will make a return this year from Nov 1-3 at the MINES International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
