KUCHING: Datuk Hanifah Taib, who will be defending Mukah in the 15th general election (GE15), says there is still a lot to be done for the people there.

She stressed that she wanted to continue representing Mukah to bring more development to her constituency.

“I believe it is important that Mukah is an area that needs to be taken care of as a whole and bring in development as well as other initiatives to the area.

“For me, I will provide grants or budgets that can be used to help to develop projects in each state constituency under Mukah,” she said after receiving her watikah (writ) from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here, yesterday (Nov 3).

In addition, as Mukah is a corridor in the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RDDA), she said a lot of changes would be happening in the area, including industries that could improve the economy in the area.

“I do not want the people to be left behind in development. I want them to be involved regardless of race or religion.

“I want to be able to assist the people, to help them solve problems such as why projects are delayed or why projects are left abandoned.

“This is what I wanted to do for the people, to explain to them, to meet them on why this happened. So, I want to continue this work and serve the people.”

Hanifah will be up against Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) Abdul Jalil Bujang in a straight fight.

In the 2018 general election, Hanifah, who contested under a Barisan Nasional (BN) ticket, defeated Abdul Jalil with a 13,853-vote majority.
