IPOH: All parties including Pakatan Harapan (PH) and opposition assemblymen in the state have been urged to stop speculating on the possibility of a Barisan Nasional-PAS coalition government taking over Perak.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said all parties should not continue talking about the matter but instead focus on efforts to develop the state and on serving the people.

“Please stop the rumour-mongering as this is the time to work, to focus on our real responsibilities. Such a story is nice to be played up on social media but is of no benefit to our efforts to develop the state and serve the people better.”

Ahmad Faizal said this to reporters when asked on the speculation that a number of PH assemblymen would be crossing over to the opposition.

Earlier, he witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the “Hop On Hop Off” bus service in Ipoh between Tourism Perak, which was represented by its chief executive officer (CEO) Zuraida Md Taib, and Perak Transit Berhad, represented by its CEO, Datuk Cheong Peak Sooi.

Ahmad Faizal said he had the duty to serving all, including those who voted for the opposition in the last general election, as he was not a menteri besar for PH only, while the Umno and PAS assemblymen also had their responsibilities in serving the people after being elected.

“I also have the duty of working together with the Umno and PAS assemblymen as long as their intention is to serve the people,” he added.

On a viralled video showing Tambun Bersatu division deputy chief Jaafar Othman contacting an officer of the menteri besar and verbally abusing him, Ahmad Faizal said the state government had sought a solution to the problem at the Amanjaya Terminal that was raised by the individual concerned.

“I understand the cause of his anger but before he became furious, we were already taking action to solve the problem but the video had gone viral on social media,” said Ahmad Faizal, who is also Tambun Bersatu division chief.
