MPKKP in the system will weaken state from inside

KUCHING: Sarawak is in for a nightmare that it will not ever wake up from if the federal Village Community Management Council (MPKKP) system is allowed to take root.

There is no stopping Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government from putting in place many more policies aimed at undermining the state.

“Yes, PH can do a lot worse if MPKKP gets to be established. If MPKKP is introduced into the system, it will become the state’s most vulnerable point and you can bet the state will break apart,” said Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (KSMC) chairman Datuk Peter Minos.

“To prevent this from happening, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) must not allow MPKKP to be established. Mark my word, if MPKKP ever takes root the next thing to happen is PH will form their own councillors to allow them to have some form of grip on local government affairs,” he reiterated.

Minos stressed that if PH cares about Sarawak and Malaysia it should stop this MPKKP idea because if implemented “it will surely open the floodgates to disunity and instability”.

“Obviously, there will be confrontations between the MPKKP and the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK).

“Even now you can sense the uneasy air developing in the villages where there are attempts to form the MPKKP. Conflicts will surely come to a head as the state election in 2021 nears,” he said.

Minos added that his greatest fear is the PH federal government, in trying to topple the state government in the next state election, will pump huge sums of money to the MPKKP.

“Rural folk will be ‘berperang’ (at war). I dread to think where this will lead us to,” he warned.

He urged PH to do things “the normal and acceptable way” if they really want to help Sarawakians.

“They are the government, they should behave like any responsible government and not instigate the people into hating each other,” he said.
