Storeroom razed in late night fire

LUNDU: A storeroom used to keep second-hand goods in Kampung Bagak was engulfed by fire last night (Apr 21).

Firefighters from Lundu station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call around 9.35 pm.

Upon arrival, they found that the storeroom was beyond saving.

The extinguishing deed was performed using water sourced from the fire truck after the team faced a minor setback due to the absence of open water source nearby.

The flames were eventually brought under control at 10.55 pm and overhaul works followed suit to eliminate any potential risk of reignition.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation.
