TANJONG MANIS: The Tanjong Manis parliamentary seat will see a straight fight in the 15th general election (GE15) between Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS-PBB) candidate Yusuf Abdul Wahab and Pakatan Harapan (PH-AMANAH) Zainab Suhaili.
The official announcement of the nomination for the constituency was made by Election Commission (EC) returning officer Ismail Kasah in the Dewan IKS Tanjong Manis here yesterday.
He confirmed that all nomination documents filed by the two candidates were accepted at 12.10pm.
Zainab was the first to file her nomination paper at 9.02am followed by Yusuf at 9.05am.
Earlier, Zainab arrived at the venue at 7.23am while Yusuf arrived at 8.55am.
Zainab, 53, was accompanied by her proposer, Husbi Mahdi and seconder, Gusti Ardanishah Gusti Asmadi.
Meanwhile, Yusuf, 59, was accompanied by his proposer, Amiruddin Bakri and seconder, Theresa Renah.
In the previous GE14, Yusuf came out on top with 11,402 votes against Fadillah Sabali of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) who only managed to receive 2,728 votes.
