The people are always in high spirit to celebrate Independence Day regardless of the differences amidst the political landscape in the country, he noted.

“And from there, we will be able to work together and boost the development of the state,” he said when officiating at the district-level Merdeka@Komuniti programme at Dewan Terbuka, Kampung Sadong Jaya Tengah here yesterday.

He pointed out that Sarawakians and the Sadong Jaya constituents especially, have been playing a good role in ensuring unity among the various races.

About 250 people attended the event which was hosted by the Information Department in accordance with the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the government.

In another development, Aidel said the state government had allocated a total of RM350,000 for the upgrading of Dewan Terbuka, Kampung Sadong Jaya.

“The re-construction will start anytime soon and when the project is completed, we will have a bigger hall for the comfort of the community,” he said.
