KUCHING: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg received a virtual courtesy call from the Singapore High Commissioner to Malaysia, Vanu Gopala Menon at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Monday (June 21).

The purpose of the half-hour call was to discuss matters such as vaccination programmes in Sarawak, cooperation between Sarawak and Singapore, and economic issues; specifically focusing on post-Covid-19 plans as well other current issues.

In 2019, Sarawak has established trade cooperation with Singapore through the opening of the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office (Statos) which aims to provide direct returns to suppliers in Sarawak and testing the Singapore market in the search for new export opportunities.

This has been one of many initiatives to expose Sarawak’s products to a wider market, particularly agricultural products, to increase the tourism potential of the state.
