Strictly comply with SOPs, operators urged

MIRI: Spas, wellness centre, massage centre reflexology and karaoke operators in the district here have been urged to strictly comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) during its operation.

The minister in-charge of the Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin said that the Miri City Council (MCC) had been instructed to inform all the above-mentioned operators registered with the council to comply with the SOPs issued by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

“They need to apply to MCC for an inspection of their premises and if they meet the SOPs as outlined, a letter of approval will be issued and it must be displayed clearly at their premises.

“In addition, for the purpose of the rT-PCR testing which needs to be done at least three days before the business operates, they are encouraged take the test at the private medical facilities as not to burden the public facilities which are currently focusing on the close contacts and active case detection (ACD) categories,” he said while chairing the meeting today.

SDMC recently announced that spas, wellness center, massage centre reflexology and karaoke are allowed to resume operation starting today.

In the meantime, the Transport Minister also said that the Miri Division Health Office had reported that a total of 33,523 swabs had been taken from the period of Dec 27 last year till Mar 25 this year.

“Based on the official report of the Miri Division Health Office, since the Jalan Merpati Cluster was detected, by today’s midnight a total of 24 positive cases were reported from the shopping centre involving 23 cases detected among the Permaisuri Mall staff (cleaner, security, maintenance) and one more case was detected from an employee of a restaurant,” he said.

For Miri Division, he added that thus far 127,984 people have agreed to receive the Covid-19 vaccine under phase two which is 50 percent of the total population.
